De Luz Yacht Club Race July 25, 2009

It was another incredible weekend for a Yacht Race... Six boaters turned out for some very competitive racing. There was a critical moment in the first race when Crash MacKenzie (of 'I Could've Been A Contender Fame') tried to squeeze his boat in between Howard and Jeff's boats and as you can see in the picture above, caused quite a problem almost beaching both boats! Crash, you need at least the width of your boat to squeeze between them!!  The only thing anyone heard from Crash was "What I'm I to do, there was no place to go".

It was really nice to see so many boats on the Lake, it makes the races much more interesting. Would have been nice to see the Catamaran out there! Maybe next Saturday Doug will show and will have 7 boats... Here they are the results:

PS: Phil passed his drug test. Race #1:

Phil - 1st place
Jeff - 2nd place
Howard - 3rd place
Wes - 4th place
Vic - 5th place
Sue - 6th place

Race #2 results:

Phil - 1st place
Howard - 2nd place
Jeff - 3rd place
Wes - 4th place
Vic - 5th place
Sue - 6th place

Hope everyone had a safe weekend.

That's all for now.

Ciao for now! JC

Picnic/Yacht Club/Classified July 18-19 2009

Well is was an incredible weekend for a Picnic and Yacht Race...  Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the 140+ who showed up for a bounty of wonderful food, including a Gumbo that I thought was straight out of New Orleans...
For those who did not go; De Luz Fire Chief, Mike Manchor reiterated that if you live within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant, you insurance rating is 5.9.  Further than that it is 9...  A 5.9 is the same rating given to Fallbrook.  So check with your insurance agent if you think you're still under the old rating of 10, because you'll save a whole lot of money.

Yacht Races went well and I'm happy too report the results as given to me, because I not only forget pictures at the Picnic, I also failed to show at the races...  Here they are:

RACE #1       1st. - Phil
                      2nd. - Howard
                      3rd. - Jeff
                      4th. - Vic
                      5th. - Sue

RACE #2       1st. - Jeff
                      2nd. - Phil
                      3rd. - Howard
                      4th. - Vic
                      5th. - Sue

And, finally we have another classified ad from Woody, who has a rental available..

Call Woody at 760 723 5351 or 760 468 8230.

Hope everyone had a safe weekend and sorry we didn't get to see more folks at the Picnic...  Later this year the other side of De Luz will hold their Picnic which is also a spectacular event, along with a contest for best main dish, salad and desert.  Keep checking the http://DeLuzNews.Net for the date!  Lets all remember we live in De Luz and we need to come together!

That's all for now.

Ciao,

The Race Result and Bubba Too!

It was a most magnificent day for a Yacht race. The winds were mild and wild, changing direction and blowing crazy! Everyone could smell the smoke from the fire at Camp Pendleton impact area, but that didn't detour those dedicate to sailing on for the De Luz Yacht Club Trophy!!! We are mid way and Phil still heads the leader board.

We had a good show of spectators and visitors to our beautiful De Luz. They all cheered on as the boaters crossed the finish line in both races.

Race #1 results:

Phil - 1st place
Howard - 2nd place
Vic - 3rd place
Sue - 4th place
Race time: 15:17:30

Race #2 results:

Phil - 1st place
Howard - 2nd place
Dead heat for 3rd place.
Vic - 3rd place
Sue - -3rd place
Race time: 07:49:54

Bubba made an appearance at his first Yacht Club race. (see photos http://deluznews.net) He is a beautiful Australian Black Swan and he cruised the lake as if he had been here for years. You all must come out to see him, he is a beauty. Thanks goes to Alex, who lives above the lake... Rumors are Bubba cost him $1000! Thanks again Alex, we all appreciate and will watch over Bubba.

Ciao for now! JC
